This TX is used in Amp Maker kits and has also been a popular choice for other amp builders. It’s no longer available to buy from Amp Maker, but you can order it directly from us.
It’s designed for use in single-ended EL84 valve output stages, and will also work well with 6V6 valves. The primary impedance is 5k ohms and it has 4, 8 and 16ohm speaker taps. It’s clamp-mounting, with standard solder lugs for primary and secondary connections. For those who worry about such things, the transformer uses grain-oriented laminations. Audio performance is equal to equivalent Hammond SE output transformers, -1dB at 100Hz with no negative feedback, and flat frequency response to well over 10kHz. It sounds fantastic for both medium- and high-gain guitar circuits.
