Wiring up the primary

We have been asked many times how to configure our standard European primaries for a specific mains voltage.

Although they perhaps look complicated they are in fact very simple to use.

The confusion comes about because of the +10V tap. This does exactly what it says on the tin, +10V. So if your mains was 230V you would us the 220V terminal and the +10V terminal as 220V +10V = 230V.

All the different combinations are shown in the diagrams below:.

220V Mains
230V Mains
240V Mains
250V Mains

Please remember that the mains supply is potentially lethal, and treat it with the greatest of respect at all times. Always follow high voltage procedures.
